A discussion on the Dorothy Hood Project and Retrospective was held in the beautiful home of collectors and benefactors Johanna and Steve Donson. The retrospective will open at the Art Museum of South Texas in 2015- the only museum in the world that combines internationally acclaimed architects Ricardo Legorreta and Philip Johnson where their collection of Dorothy Hood’s paintings will take over the entire museum. A major portion of art from the Dorothy Hood estate was acquired in 2001. During her life, Hood was collected by large numbers of Texas collectors through the Houston-based gallery, Meredith Long & Company and has extended far beyond.
Susie Kalil gave a passionate talk on the importance of the recognition of Dorothy Hood as a major force, comparing her to Joan Mitchell, Helen Frankenthaler, and Lee Krasner.
