Letter to Carolyn from University of Houston College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics
Dear Dr. Farb,
Thank you for our conversation this morning and enjoyed it as always, especially when it’s good news. I wanted to follow up with the student report from the Undergraduate Student Instrumentation Project (thank you for your support!), information about the CASE District IV accolades and Project Row Houses.
Your support for the Undergraduate Student Instrumentation Project 2018 helped 12 students spend two weeks in Alaska to conduct experiments related to gathering data on auroral spectra, atmospheric airglow, low frequency, total electron content and distribution of airborne organisms. This information can be used to develop new technologies. Working with students across disciplines, using creativity to design new technology and learning the fundamentals of science are all skills that our students learned through this experience. I have attached a report written by Bryan Gunawan, one of our students who went on the trip, to this email. I will also send another email from dropbox with the photos.
We’re proud to announce that we received the Gold Accolade Award in the Stewardship/Donor Relations Category at this year’s CASE District IV Conference! The award is officially for the “stewardship of Carolyn Farb.” We’re grateful for our friendship and all you have done for our college. This award was a nice recognition and we’re glad we can share it with you! CASE (Council for Advancement & Support of Education) is an international association of advancement professionals (development, marketing, communications) at education institutions. We are part of CASE District IV which is comprised of 261 institutions from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
